Interim leadership is not just about filling a position until a recruitment exercise is completed, interim leaders are implementors of change for businesses.

Interim leadership roles are generally short term and ensure effective transition of leadership and often instigate change within an organisation. Often there is a need to make an impact within a short period of time while ensuring strategic plans are in place.
Effective Interims will be able to understand and assess the challenges quickly and be able to implement and put in place practical measures where needed.

Interim Support Requirements
- Cessation of Predecessor – One of the most common reasons for the provision of interim support is to manage a transition of leadership or management roles. This can often mean dealing with the immediate situation or any repercussions of the cessation of a post holder. This may also include having to manage teams that may need direction and/or rebuilding a team culture.
- Crisis Management – Quite often, where a role has become unoccupied within a business possibly as a result of a range of different situations, there is often a role in managing a potentially difficult situation and bringing cohesion and collaborative working approaches.
- Process Improvement – A key area for Interims to get to grips with is to quickly understand key processes and operating systems and to then begin to review and report on areas for improvement.
- Performance Management – It is important to quickly understand and assess key performance data, and be able to get to the root of any key business issues resulting in poor performance, and to present these findings back to the business where needed.
- Communication Challenges – Interim roles can often find themselves operating in a business with a siloed mentality which ultimately will hinder their ability to deliver, with a key challenge to make a change and bring about a culture of positive communication
